Step Inside FCJ College: Creativity in Full Swing
Nov 7, 2025

We hope our students and their families enjoyed some well-deserved downtime — or fun time — over the extended weekend. It’s been a short but busy week here at FCJ College, with plenty of final touches being added to creative projects and learning activities across the school.
The FCJ NOW Gallery is filling fast with impressive artworks from all year levels. Drop in to see this year’s final creations, including the powerful and thought-provoking pieces by our VCE Art Making and Exhibiting students. Their works show real depth and meaning — and are well worth a visit. Excitingly, some of these students are also applying to have their pieces displayed in an upcoming exhibition at the Benalla Art Gallery.
There’s more artistic flair on display from our Year 9 Street Art students, whose stencil and spray-can creations are bold and full of impact. Alongside them are some striking ceramic pieces, and the Year 8 Tourist Postcards, which are vibrant and beautifully designed.
Meanwhile, Years 7–10 Woodwork students have been putting the finishing touches on their practical projects — from bookends and trays to stools — all showcasing creativity and craftsmanship.
In the VCE Business classroom, minds were sharpened with a clever Murder Mystery challenge, bringing teamwork and problem-solving to life.
If you’re passing by the office, be sure to check out the Year 8 English “Poe-tree” — a poetic display celebrating creative writing and the imagination of our young authors. Inspired by their study of Love That Dog and a variety of poetry styles, students have created three visual and lyrical stanzas each, resulting in a beautiful collection. A big well done to Ms Brooks and her classes for this creative showcase.
Our Year 7 Visual Art students are adding final details to their Hermannsburg Potters-inspired clay pieces —painting with underglaze before firing. We can’t wait to share their finished pots!
VCE exams are now in full swing, and we thank everyone for helping keep the VCE Learning Centre a quiet, focused space for our senior students.
Finally, our Year 10 Outdoor Education class enjoyed stunning weather on their final adventure for the semester— a three-day Alpine Hike — while our Year 9s are gearing up for their rescheduled camp. We can’t wait to share their adventures next week, when we invite you to Step Inside FCJ College!
