Catholic Identity / Admin Trainee

Commencing in Term 1, 2026
FCJ College offers a 12 month traineeship through AFL SportsReady, providing support to staff and students in the Catholic Identity and Administration Team for the implementation and execution of the College’s operation, faith and ministry programs throughout the year. Responsibilities of the role will include assisting with the preparation and the running of school liturgies, Youth Ministry activities and administration support. This would include assisting with main office and administration duties and attending retreats, seminars, camps, youth programs and other excursions where relevant. The role includes working with students and staff in Catholic Identity and Religious Education classes and supporting the Deputy Principal Community and the Director of Catholic Identity. Applicants must have confidence in their communication, both verbal and written and understand the importance of planning and administration. Confident IT, media and music skills and abilities would be an advantage. The successful applicant would participate in an AFL Sportsready certificate course as part of the role facilitated by the Business Manager through the AFL Ready Manager.
Responsible to: The AFL Trainee is responsible to the Principal and Business Manager. The position primarily focuses on the needs of, and support to the administration team, DP Community and Director of Catholic Identity. FCJ College staff and students in the areas of Catholic Identity, Masses, Liturgy and Religious Education classes.

Child Safety:
• A demonstrated understanding of child safety
• A demonstrated understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children
• Be a suitable person to engage in child-connected work
• Must hold or be willing to acquire a Working with Children Check card and must be willing to undergo a National Police Record Check
Skills:
• Basic interest and understanding of FCJ charism and Catholic liturgies
• Confident IT, media and music/audio skills and abilities would be an advantage.
Responsibilities:
• Assist in the admin support, planning and preparation of school liturgies, school retreats and Year level Religious seminars.
• Assist in planning and supporting any Faith Leadership programs and FCJ /St Joseph’s Benalla events
• Assist with faith and social justice-based programs organised by the College, including the Social Justice Group.
• Assist with the Faith Leadership Classes.
• Attend Catholic Identity Retreats where appropriate and relevant.
• Attend FCJ activities where appropriate and relevant.
• Participate in relevant excursions (both day and overnight excursions) and camps.
• Assist and support in Student Leadership events and activities where appropriate.
• Support students and staff in promoting and facilitating aboriginal network activities.
• Support and assist parish clergy in school related events, liturgies and activities.
• Assist with the organising and running of special College events, for example – Class or Year level Masses, Opening College Mass, End of Year Masses, Graduation, Ash Wednesday, Easter Liturgy, Catholic Identity Days etc.
• Actively participate in the team approach to faith development in the College.
• Assist office and maintenance staff during term break and as required.
• Various administration duties including support for school events.
• General office and administration duties.
• Other duties as directed by the Principal or Business Manager
General Work Description:
Traineeships are a 12-month training course with two components:
• On the job experience
• Accredited training at TAFE – Certificate 3 in Education Support
Traineeships have been developed to provide young people with paid hands-on experience in the workforce as
well as accredited TAFE training at no cost to the trainee

Sports Trainee

Commencing in Term 1, 2026
The AFL Trainee is responsible to the Principal through the Business Manager and Sports
Coordinator. The position primarily focuses on the needs of, and support to, FCJ College teachers and
students in the areas of Sport, Physical Education and Outdoor Education.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare equipment for various sporting teams, ensure equipment is returned to school and make
minor repairs, being responsible for team uniforms.
• Attend camps and assist teachers with supervision of students, help arrange and conduct
activities.
• Attend after school hours sporting events.
• Assist at various sporting events as directed, including marshalling, timekeeping, etc.
• Assist with set up and pack up of sporting events and carnivals.
• Loan of equipment at lunchtime, ensure equipment is returned.
• Assist with various team sports ie assist coach, runner, water carrier, umpire, team manager and
assist with selection.
• Ensure the Sport, PE and OED store room and equipment is kept in a tidy manner ready for all
classes, school activities and sporting events.
• Assist office and maintenance staff during term break and as required.
• Various administration duties including support for school events.
• General office duties as required.
• Other duties as directed by the Principal or Business Manager
