Step Inside FCJ College: And Beyond
May 16, 2025

It’s been an exciting week here at FCJ College, and we would like to share with you what has been happening in our classrooms, grounds and beyond!
Last Friday, our 1st Year Certificate III Business students brought creativity and professionalism to life with their Mother’s Day-themed market stall. They applied their coursework to produce, promote, and sell over 100 handmade slice packs—complete with beautifully wrapped packaging and an eye-catching point-of-sale display. A wonderful example of hands-on learning in action!
LFOV rehearsals continued, and the excitement is building. The choir is improving with every session, and the final production is sure to be an absolute joy to watch. A heartwarming moment saw the group come together to celebrate the 93rd birthday of long-time choir member Ray O’Shannessy—complete with cake!
In Agriculture, our Unit 1 students took part in the Get Into AgSTEM program at the Tatura Smart Farm. Immersed in the world of digital agriculture, students constructed soil moisture sensors, worked with digital scripts, and analysed real-time data to make smart irrigation decisions. They also explored cutting-edge technologies like drones, satellite imaging, and LiDAR—gaining a glimpse into the future of sustainable farming.
Our Year 10 Agriculture and Unit 1 Biology students combined to investigated mammal anatomy through a sheep organ dissection. This hands-on investigation revealed how organs are linked together in the body via connective tissue, and helped deepen their understanding of human anatomy.
Rounding out the week, students laced up their runners for our annual Cross Country around beautiful Lake Benalla. With house points up for grabs, the 3km course saw students run, jog, and walk their way beneath the stunning autumn leaves —bringing energy, fun, and school spirit to a much-loved tradition.
Please enjoy the images from the week below— they capture just some of the great things happening here at FCJ College.
