Step Inside FCJ College: Creativity, Camp & Excellence

Feb 13, 2026

It has been a massive week here at FCJ College, to say the least!

We began the week gathering for Liturgy, where our 2026 House Captains were officially announced and presented with their badges. Congratulations to:

  • D’Houet: Christian Squires & Tanisha Deo
  • Hughes: Mitchel Toms & Owen Tilton
  • Davey: Aryaav Singh & Eliza Sammon

Year 7 students explored the school through a fun scavenger hunt, getting to know classrooms, staff, and peers while tracking down the FCJ College emblem in some friendly competition. In Music, they put a creative spin on rhythm with a twist on a traditional Stomp Beat. They started in the classroom crafting their bars, and then took it outside, incorporating basketballs alongside stomping to explore rhythm and movement.

On Wednesday, they headed off to Camp Howqua! Check out our social media for photos of all the fun—horse riding, waterslides, flying fox, high ropes, archery, Survivor challenges, and more. It was a week of fun and friendships forged. Well done Year 7's, enjoy a relaxing weekend!

Lunchtimes have been buzzing with basketball action as we launched our first Lunch Time League mini-tournament (3 v 3).

Year 9 Digital Media students took a walk around the Benalla Botanical Gardens with their cameras, capturing anything that inspired them—from plant shapes to birds, trees, and fellow students. It was a beautiful outing with some amazing images captured. Keep following our social media to see highlights of their work!

We were honoured to welcome Annabelle Cleeland MP, who spoke passionately to Year 11 students, encouraging them to apply for her Kokoda Trek Scholarship—a program supporting young people to learn about local wartime history while promoting resilience. She generously stayed on to speak with students interested in politics, answering questions on a range of topics. Having been personally affected by the recent bushfires, she offered students the chance to share their experiences and initiatives one-on-one. Annabelle then met with our 2026 School Captains, congratulating them on their contributions to the community and providing guidance as they step into leadership roles. Each captain will receive a personal letter of commendation. It was an inspiring afternoon and a wonderful insight into her commitment to empowering young people in our regional community.

Finally, we are thrilled to announce our 2026 School Production: The Addams Family. Students, please check daily messages on Simon for audition details—we’ll keep you updated as this exciting event unfolds.

What a week! We look forward to our Swimming Carnival next week and all the other activities underway at FCJ College.
