Step Inside FCJ College: 2025 Final Term Kicks Off — Ready to Finish on a High
Oct 10, 2025

Welcome back everyone! We hope you’ve had a restful break and are ready for what promises to be a busy and exciting Term 4. The sunshine has greeted us beautifully this week, and it’s been wonderful to see so many students making the most of it — studying, chatting and catching up outdoors.
This week, 38 students took part in the 2025 Hume Region Track and Field Competition in Albury under near-perfect weather conditions. Our students represented the College exceptionally well, showing true encouragement and sportsmanship not only toward each other but also their competitors. Congratulations to Sam Gates (Triple Jump) and Eleanor Renkin (1500m) who have both qualified for the State Championships later this month! We also had several second and third placegetters, with many narrowly missing out on the next level — a wonderful effort by all.
In the classrooms, learning and hands-on experiences are in full swing. Unit 4 Chemistry students conducted a distillation using orange peel and lemon-scented gum leaves to extract essential oils — a fascinating way to explore chemical separation techniques. Meanwhile, Unit 2 Psychology students explored the five taste senses —sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and umami — through a fun blindfolded taste test!Using their understanding of the gustatory system, students sampled mystery foods and guessed each flavour (and tested just how much they trust their teacher!).
Our VCE VM Work Related Skills students have begun their final assessment for the year — a Panel Interview experience designed to prepare them for real-world opportunities. The first two students completed their interviews today, dressed sharply in their suits and impressing the panel with their professionalism. Each student presented a personal portfolio applying for employment or further study and responded to questions tailored to their individual goals and aspirations. The remaining interviews will take place next week, giving all students the chance to experience this valuable and authentic process — an invaluable experience in preparing them for the world beyond school.
Practice exams have also been running this week as our VCE students gear up for final exams. We’re so proud of the dedication, hard work and resilience you’ve shown — one last push, Year 12s!
And finally, rehearsals are in full swing for our upcoming school play The Tempest by William Shakespeare— a magical adventure for all ages, taking the stage on Friday 17th October 7:00pm at our FCJ College Marie Madeleine Centre.
Here’s to a sunny, productive, and inspiring Term 4 ahead!
