Step Inside FCJ College: Adventures, Insight, and the Magic of The Tempest
Oct 17, 2025

It’s been an action-packed week here at FCJ College, filled with adventure, learning, and creativity — culminating in tonight’s much-anticipated performance of The Tempest!
Our VCE VM Personal Development Class attended The Salvation Army Schools Engagement Workshop at Project 614 on Bourke Street, Melbourne. The program began with an informative and interactive one-hour workshop exploring the realities of homelessness in Australia. Students then took part in a guided walking tour around the city, hearing first-hand stories about the experiences of those sleeping rough.
This immersive experience provided invaluable context for the class’s study of homelessness at both local and national levels. Students reflected thoughtfully on what they learned and expressed how powerful and eye-opening the day had been.
This week, our Year 10 Outdoor Education students embarked on an exciting Adventure Activities Camp in Bright. With perfect weather setting the scene, the group showcased outstanding teamwork, resilience, and school spirit throughout the experience.
Day 1 kicked off with mountain biking at Mystic MTB Park, led by All-Terrain Cycles. Students tackled single-track trails and downhill sections, developing their technical riding skills and embracing the physical challenges with enthusiasm and determination.
Day 2 began early on the banks of the Ovens River, where Adventure Guides Australia introduced the group to single and double pack rafting. Students quickly picked up the necessary skills and navigated the rapids with confidence. The guides praised the group as one of the best they’ve worked with, highlighting their ability to follow instructions and work together effectively.
It was a fantastic two days of adventure, growth, and fun — well done to everyone involved!
The Tempest has undoubtedly been the highlight of the week. From set design and technical rehearsals to full dress rehearsals and a special performance for BRCE Grade 5 and 6 students, the excitement has been building. Tonight, the stage lights up for the main performance, showcasing the incredible dedication and talent of our cast and crew. Congratulations to everyone involved — we can’t wait to welcome our families, friends, and the community to enjoy the show!
As we head toward the end of the year, there’s still plenty happening around FCJ College! We’ll soon be sharing the final works from our VCE Art Making & Exhibiting students, who have poured their heart and soul into their pieces. Woodwork students across all year levels are proudly completing their handcrafted projects, while our Year 12 Systems Engineering students have wrapped up their incredible final creations — and they are seriously impressive!
