Step Inside FCJ College: Meet Our 2026 Captains
Oct 31, 2025

We were delighted this week to announce our 2026 School Captains!
Congratulations to our Captains, Emily Snell and Bryce Cooney, and to our Vice Captains, Samuel Gates and Poppy Broomhall. It was a strong field of impressive young people, and after a thorough selection process, we are proud to introduce these remarkable leaders who will represent FCJ College with pride and dedication. Stay tuned — our captains for Social Justice & Environment, Sport, and The Arts will be announced soon!
VCE exams officially kicked off this week, with students beginning their assessments on Tuesday with English. We wish all our senior students the very best over the coming weeks as they showcase the dedication and effort they’ve put into their studies this year.
Our Year 8 Science classes have been diving into the world of sustainable energy, exploring natural and renewable resources. To bring their learning to life, students constructed small windmills to test their understanding of renewable energy. The results were creative, clever, and (mostly!) functional —a fantastic hands-on way to connect theory with real-world science.
Meanwhile, our Semester 2 Year 9 Outdoor Education students embarked on their overnight hike through the stunning Warby Ovens National Park. The spring landscape, rejuvenated by recent rainfall, provided the perfect backdrop for this adventure. The students’ enthusiasm, teamwork, and respect throughout the journey were exceptional, making this one of the most memorable groups yet.
Adding colour and creativity to the week, our Year 10 Painting and Drawing students unveiled a new display in the FCJNOW Gallery — a series of uplifting text-based banners that will soon move to brighten the Year 10 locker area. The pieces are thoughtful, bold, and beautifully executed. Students also took time to reflect on their initial visions and the techniques they used to bring them to life. Each banner was thoughtfully critiqued as part of the creative process, giving students valuable insight into their artistic development and design choices.
To round out the week, our Year 10 Café and Barista class brewed up something spooktacular! this week with their Halloween-themed pop-up café. From recipe costing and budgeting to ordering ingredients and creating an impressive spread of themed sweet treats, the students did an exceptional job. Their professionalism shone through as they served coffees, handled payments, and delighted staff and students alike with their festive flair.
Step inside FCJ College — there’s always something inspired!
