Step Inside FCJ College: A Massive and Memorable Start to Term 2
Apr 27, 2026

We launched Term 2 with an incredibly busy first week, setting a strong tone for the months ahead.
Our staff began with the Catholic Education Sandhurst Learning and Teaching Day, “Ambitiously Sandhurst,” a full day of professional learning focused on effective classroom practice. Staff explored what genuinely drives learning, developed a deeper understanding of mindset and what it truly means, and examined homework and digital practices through a cognitive lens. Through expert-led sessions, staff explored strategies to strengthen whole-class instruction and create meaningful impact, aligned with FCJ College’s values of Companionship, Justice, Courage & Confidence and Gentleness.
Our Year 12 students headed to Kinglake Forest Adventures Camp for their retreat, spending time together in a beautiful natural setting to reflect, connect and prepare for their final year.
Student leadership was also in action, with our Student Representative Council (SRC) coming together for a productive leadership day. Students collaborated, shared ideas and planned initiatives for the year ahead, building strong connections across year levels.
Our Year 8 students participated in Connections That Count, a seminar focused on respectful relationships, exploring topics such as online behaviour, consent and empathy, while being encouraged to be upstanders and build positive friendships. Our Year 10 students also continued these important conversations through their Respectful Relationships program.
Our much-loved Let’s Find Our Voice program held its first rehearsal, and we look forward to seeing students’ confidence and skills grow in the weeks ahead.
On Thursday, our SRC led a beautiful ANZAC Day service at the front of the school. Students across the whole school respectfully placed poppies beneath our flag poles, pausing to remember and honour the service and sacrifice of those who have served our nation. We acknowledge the FCJ College staff and students who participated in dawn and morning services over the weekend, as well as those who marched, showing quiet respect and reflection on this significant occasion. A special mention to our School Captain, Emily, who delivered a moving reading of The Call to the Anzacs, reminding us all of the legacy we honour.
We wrapped up the week with our Athletics Carnival — an outstanding display of house spirit, participation, and energy from across the College. Congratulation to all our fantastic participants and cheer squads!
It has been a massive and memorable start to Term 2, and we look forward to sharing many more highlights and achievements in the weeks ahead. Be sure to follow us on social media for the latest updates, photos, and student successes.
