Step Inside FCJ College: Experiences That Inspire
Jun 19, 2026

As we head into the final week of Term 2, we are proud to reflect on the many experiences and achievements that have enriched life at our school. From our Let's Find Our Voice concerts to the Wheelchair Basketball program, our students have continued to embrace every opportunity to learn, connect and challenge themselves.
One such opportunity was the Yarra Ranges Tech School STEM Robotics Camp, where 18 students from Years 9–11 immersed themselves in the world of robotics and engineering. Using VEX robotics technology, students learned to code robots, program remote-control functions, and assemble and wire their own machines. They also gained insight into the VEX Robotics Championships while developing valuable problem-solving, project management and teamwork skills as they designed, tested and refined their creations. The camp challenged students to think creatively, persevere through setbacks and work collaboratively.
Our Year 9 Humanities students brought history to life during their World War I studies thanks to Aidan Wilkinson, who generously shared his impressive collection of WWI artefacts. Students were fascinated by the different helmets and equipment used throughout the war and the evolution of military technology. Aidan's enthusiasm and expertise provided a unique and memorable learning experience.
Fifty Year 10 and 11 students recently visited the University of Melbourne and St Mary's College, gaining valuable insight into life beyond secondary school. Students explored university courses, entry pathways and support services before touring the campus and experiencing its learning and recreational spaces. They also learned about residential college life and the support available to students living away from home. The excursion encouraged students to explore future pathways and consider the many possibilities available to them after school.
The Year 7 and Year 12 Buddy Program continued to strengthen connections across the school, with students enjoying activities in the Senior Study Space and building positive relationships across year levels.
We have also continued our involvement with BlazeAid, with students heading out each week to support local bushfire affected communities. This important work will continue "until the job is done", and we are incredibly proud of the compassion, commitment and work ethic demonstrated by both our students and staff.
Congratulations to the 28 students who represented our school at the SSV Hume Region Cross Country Championships, demonstrating determination, resilience and outstanding sportsmanship. Special congratulations to our State Championship qualifiers:
- Sophie Lamont (14 Girls)
- Kadey Macklin (17–20 Girls)
Finally, our VCE Legal Studies students visited the SheppartonLaw Courts, touring the facilities, observing the legal system and justice inaction, and connecting their classroom learning with real-world practice.
As we head into the final week of Term 2, we look forward to celebratingthe many achievements of the semester and finishing the term strongly together.
